Today, Grimshaw serves as a platform for academic debate, people-to-people connections and professional support for careers in international affairs. We do this by hosting speaker events, organising outreach visits and facilitating delegations abroad.
Here are some of our flagship events:
London Diplomacy Ball
Led by the Grimshaw Club, the London Diplomacy Ball unites students from LSE, University College London, King's College London, Oxford University and SOAS around the theme of diplomacy and international relations.
The Diplomacy Ball is London's largest charitable inter-university ball, attended by over 350 students and 20 diplomats in 2026.
London University Diplomatic Summit
The London University Diplomatic Summit (LUDS) is a four-day intercollegiate summit organised by the diplomacy societies of LSE, UCL, KCL and Oxford, with one day hosted by each participating university.
LSE's Day of the Summit in 2026 was themed, ‘Bordered Realities: Security, Mobility and Meaning in Global Politics’ featuring15 speakers across three panel discussions. It was attended by over 80 students from across the UK.
Diplomatic Breakfast (LSE)
Started in 2023, the Diplomatic Breakfast is one of Grimshaw's annual flagship events where we connect our members with diplomats from all over the world. The event is meant to provide exposure to a career in diplomacy by giving students the opportunity to engage with senior diplomats in a relaxed and casual setting.
To date, 28 diplomatic missions (and counting) have participated in the Diplomatic Breakfast.
Delegations Abroad
Since our first student delegation to the USSR in 1988, Grimshaw's Trips are the society's signature end-of-year events, leveraging London’s connectivity with the rest of the world. These delegations allow students to meet local policymakers, experts and NGO leaders to discuss regionally and internationally significant issues.
In 2026, the Grimshaw Club greatly expanded the number and scope of trips, totalling to seven opportunities, participated in by over 60 students.
